"Caring & Sharing - A Simple Way to Provide Food Assistance"

Please return
our Bags

We have a very high success rate of retrieving our bags, however we lose the opportunity to reuse the bags when they are not returned.

Not returning a bag can result in a lost opportunity to see hundreds of pounds of food being delivered to a food bank annualy.
The need for food assistance is always greater than the food donated.

Returning our bag is caring even if the bag is empty.

THANK YOU!

Volunteers

We are currently seeking volunteers to commit a few hours each month to be part of this national effort.

Volunteers will be asked to drop our Green Bags at homes within their neighborhood with an attached newsletter explaining the food campaign. The newsletter requests that the homeowner fill the Bag with non-perishable food items and leave it outside their door on one of two scheduled pickup dates.

If the homeowner does not wish to participate, we simply request that they leave out the empty Bag to be collected.

When available, we provide our volunteers with 50 Green Bags and ask that they be distributed once each month. When bags are not available we ask the volunteers to purchase the bags at our cost of $1.00 for each bag.

We suggest that the bags be placed at residences only once every three months and placed at additional homes the following month.

After pickup, volunteers can deliver the food to a local food bank of their choice; however many food banks will also come to collect the food provided if it's already in a central location.

Many families in your community will welcome the opportunity to support their local food bank and help those in need, since the Green Bag Project handles the collection and delivery on their behalf.

BECOME A COMMUNITY AREA DIRECTOR

If you have the time and commitment to help the people in need, you can work to locate sponsors to purchase the Green Bags and also recruit volunteers to distribute the bags throughout your area.

You can also coordinate the Green Bag effort with the many houses of worship and corporate office centers for food drives in your area.
