"Caring & Sharing - A Simple Way to Provide Food Assistance"

Please return
our Bags

We have a very high success rate of retrieving our bags, however we lose the opportunity to reuse the bags when they are not returned.

Not returning a bag can result in a lost opportunity to see hundreds of pounds of food being delivered to a food bank annualy.
The need for food assistance is always greater than the food donated.

Returning our bag is caring even if the bag is empty.

THANK YOU!

Friday Kid's Pack Delivery at Sunrise Elementary School

(October 01, 2010)

These are pictures of a recent delivery of 800 lbs of food to Sunrise Elementary School in Kissimmee by the Green Bag Project, received by the school’s principal and a staff member. Ana Martin and Brian Brannigan of Florida Spirit Vacation Homes assisted in the delivery.

Sunrise is the second elementary school in the last thirty days to receive a large supply of donated food for their school pantry. Early in September Eastside Elementary School in Haines City received 800 lbs of food and we are hopeful of keeping both of these schools supplied with needed food through the school year.

Our school food program is "Friday Kids Packs" and in both schools the teachers and staff have identified a limited number of children grades pre-K to grade five who are going home on Friday afternoon to a home with little or no available food for the weekend.

For the children in need of weekend food, the food is placed in their back packs each Friday afternoon and the children carry the food home.

The food provided to each child is a jar of peanut butter, oatmeal packets, macaroni & cheese, a can of beef with pasta, a packet of noodles with chicken in sauce, a box of chicken rice and assorted other food items.
