Feel The Good

Feeling good when you care about others is always an opportunity to make a giving day your best day. Caring about hungry children, many of which are homeless is an opportunity to effect the lives of so many children right here in our local communities.

To thousands of local children, waking each morning, getting ready for school, where they have the opportunity to eat both breakfast and lunch is a good day before returning home where there may not be food available.

These children rarely miss a school day because school is where their lives are again normal. Food, security and comfort from teachers and staff and time with friends are the hours of each day where they can be somewhat happy kids.

How long these children will suffer with being hungry and or homeless no one knows, however the number of homeless children is continuing to grow to alarming numbers.

For many, missing the evening meal is common and living with the fear of being hungry on weekends effects every aspect of their life including their ability to learn in school.

Many of the children in our weekend food pack program are pre K age four and we keep hearing of younger siblings at home who are waiting for the weekend food packs to arrive.

Weekend Back Pack Food

Establishing food pantries in local elementary schools is the most effective way of providing weekend food to these children in need.

The teachers and staff select the children based on a critical need process and the children carry the food home each Friday.

How many schools we can include in our weekend back pack program will depend on the food donations we receive and the amount of funds we receive to purchase food.
